What to Do and Where to Go

A marriage ceremony cannot take place unless a valid marriage license has been issued. Always call the county courthouse well in advance of your ceremony date to determine specific requirements needed.

The average fee is in the range of $50.00–$100.00, payable in cash.

Requirements

The marriage ceremony may be performed anywhere is your state, unless otherwise restricted by the county in which the ceremony

will take place. A premarital blood test and physical examination may be required.
A marriage license is valid for a limited time period of time. Minimum age requirements usually apply.

In order to apply for your marriage license, typically both parties involved must be present and

produce the necessary
documentation. Typically
needed documents include:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Driver’s License
  • Passport
  • Social Security Card
